There is an established relationship between female education and good health outcomes not just for women with disabilities, but also for all women and their families.
Young mothers with limited education often don’t know how best to provide quality feeding and a safe environment for their infants. Additionally, maternal and child health is often linked to the income of women, which indirectly correlates with the education mothers receive.
To this end, Isonye Foundation, supported by the Network of Disabled Women (NDW) and ActionAid Nigeria, presented the sum of twenty thousand naira to three female secondary school students with disability, on December 22nd 2020 to support the purchase of school books. The parents of the girls we elated because the support came at a time the COVID-19 pandemic had negatively affected their earning capacity.
Isonye Foundation expresses her gratitude to Mrs. Lois Auta-Udonkanta, the president of NDW and ActionAid Nigeria, for making this possible.
